Help! Sticky Stamp problem!

Sunday, 6 April 2008
I wanted to use my new Little Claire Desgin stamps today but I'm having some trouble. The stamp is sticking to the paper when I press it down and it doesn't leave a full image. I'm using a black stazon ink pad.

Does anybody have any idea or suggestions on what I can do to stop this happening? It's really frustrating as I love these stamps, but don't want to waste anymore cardstock.

I've heard some people suggest putting sellotape on the image and tried this, but without any joy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried washing the stamps to get rid of any sticky residue that may have built up?

    Hi Sarah,
I'm no expert by any means, but i've tried putting Versamark onto the stamp first and then the black ink. It usually does the trick! :)
Hope your mum is doing o.k.?

p.s. If you have any foam stamps it also stops the Stazon from staining them :)

Are the stamps you are using acrylic? I have problems with stazon on these stamps, it just doesn't work with them. You need to change your inkpad, I think the versafine is good with them and is still waterproof. I use an adirondack ink with mine and it works well but I use stazon for all other types of stamps.

Andrea and I were wondering if your stamp had arrived yet from the CCT challenge?

is the stamp acrylix? I'm not familiar with that brand. If it is, try gently washing it with soapy water. That helps my stamps not to stick.

  1. If it's a large rubber stamp, you could try putting the stamp on a work surface face up and put the paper on top, you can then rub all over the paper which will make sure you get a clear impression.

I have problems with a few of my clear acrylic stamps sticking to the paper when stamping, I have found the only way around this is to hold the paper/card down when removing the stamp.

Hope that helps - love the snow pictures by the way

Don't use stazon is my best advice...I use versafine as it is oil based and not solvent based it won't damage the stamp.
    Clean with babywipes too.
    HTH!

my images normally do this only after I have had to stamp a few in a row and then I just clean them and let sit for a few minutes to dry before using them again. StazOn ink seems to do it often. Well I guess I wasn't any help. Sorry :(

  1. Sometimes it can be that your stazon ink pad has gone a bit dry ,so keep it well re inked or use a visa fine ink pad thats a good one ,hope this helps Dawnxx

Some stamps have a residue from the manufacturing process - before the first use rub the stamp using an earaser. Just rub over the entire image and brush or blow off the 'bits', ink as normal. See if this helps! :0) x
P.S. StazOn can damage these type of stamps over time, with prolonged use!
