Golden Anniversary Bookatrix

Monday, 7 June 2010
As promised I'm back with one of the bookatrix that I was busy making last week!

This one is for my In-Laws who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Saturday 5 June. I wanted the colours to be golden and match so used white, ivory & peach roses from Wild Orchid Crafts. I used a heart shape from another of the Glitter Girls boards but am a little disappointed that I couldn't quite make the heart shape. I hope it looks okay to you guys.

I thought I'd also include a photo of the top of the box that I'd made and decorated. Who knew how handy all those old peel-offs would come in handy?!

What do you think, is it acceptable?!
Thank you for stopping by and for any comments you may leave, they are greatly appreciated.

Happy Birthday Mum

Saturday, 19 April 2008
It's my mum's birthday today and I wanted to make her a really special birthday card. I used my Keepsake Elegance and Fantasy board and got the idea from their project book.

The paper flowers are from Hobbycraft and they came with a self adhesive backing so I didn't have to sit there glueing them all night (I would have if I had to as she's worth it). I also made a box to present it in.

As some of you may already know, my mum has been suffering with a severe bout of depression for two months now. There have been times when we thought she was showing signs of improvement, but at the moment she is still very fragile. She is currently in the process of changing medication which is making her feel out of sorts. She popped round today for a change of scenery. When the time came for her to go home she got a bit teary. It's so hard to see her like this. She is a shadow of her former self at the moment. My dad is doing a wonderful job of looking after her and supporting her through all of this, especially when she is having a bad day and takes it out on him. I really hope the new tablets start to work soon and we'll start to see a change.

I hope everybody is having a good weekend in spite of the terrible weather.

Elegant Butterfly

Thursday, 20 March 2008
It was My very good friend Lyn's 60th birthday on the 9th March but, what with everything that was going on with my mum at that time, I didn't get to make her card until last weekend.

I wanted to make it something special so decided that I would try out my Elegance and Fantasy Keepsake board for the first time.

I used some corner peel offs on the first layer with to give it that decorative look around the outer wings. For the top layer I made a small bouquet out of baby's breath and purple roses and finished off with some purple butterly embellishments.

To make it extra special, I then made a box to present it in.
