Mother's Day Cards

Friday, 29 February 2008
Well, I'm not quite back in the land of the living but I have finished my Mother's Day cards for my mum and MIL.

I used my trusty bookatrix board for these. I made the bouquet's from small tea roses and baby's breath. This is the first time I have made bouquet's so I hope they're okay.

Sorry about the reflection on the first photo, I couldn't stop the flash reflecting off the pearlescent paper, but have no idea how I managed to avoid it in the second!

I keep think that there's something missing, maybe something down the middle ribbon. What do you think?

Sorry

Just wanted to say I'm sorry that I've not posted anything for a couple of days. I've been busy with my Mother's Day cards plus I've been feeling under the weather too.

I hope to post some pics of the cards for my mum and MIL before the weekend and feel like making some more cards too.

Thank You Sue

Sue over at Slumber Cards very kindly sent me some stamped Magnolia images to play with as I do not own any of these gorgeous stamps yet. I just want to say a BIG thank you Sue, they are brilliant and the card is gorgeous.

I can't wait to have a play with these stamps and show you all what I've managed to create.

How happy was I today when the postman knocked on my door and handed me a parcel containing my fab new stamps from Whipper Snappers!! Who couldn't love these:

The service from these guys is amazing. They were sent on Friday, so have taken less thank a week to get here. I would certainly take adavantage with it being nearly $2 to the pound.

Can't wait to have a play with them!

Sister's Birthday

Sorry I've not been around much the past few days. Things with my mum got a bit intense, but appear to have turned a corner and it looks like she's on the up again. We're just taking it one day at a time.

Anyway, it was my sisters birthday yesterday and I have to admit to only just making her card. I know she will forgive me.

I have to give credit to Michelle for this layout. I was really struggling for ideas, so I had a browse in Michelle's gallery for some inspiration.

The hedgehog is one of the Penny Black stickeroos. I mounted this onto white CS and then some purple bazzill. The colours are all cooridnated and are part of a monochromatic pack I had lying aroung. I then mounted some papermania paper onto another piece of bazzill card. Another strip was run through the cuttlebug using the d'vine swirls folder. The finishing touchs are some prima flowers and sentiments from Craftwork Cards.

Very simple really, but just the way I like it.

Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers 12

Monday, 18 February 2008
Yay! I have been accepted into the 12th SBS group!!

So now I have to write a little bit about myself. Hmm, where to start?

I've been card making for a couple of years now, but only just started to feel more confident about my cards in the past few months.

I love stamping, absolutely love it!! My favourite stamps are Penny Black and Whipper Snappers. I would love to own a set of Prismacolor pencils so that I can improve my watercolouring skills. I'm also starting to get into decoupage. Nearly forgot, I also love my cuttlebug!!!

I look forward to visiting all my sisters blogs and gaining further experience, skills and inspiration.

Happy Birthday

Sunday, 17 February 2008
It's my young cousin, Abbie's, 9th birthday on Tuesday so I decided it was about time that I made her card.

I have to say that I wasn't feeling very inspired when I was making the card just now. It's been a bit of a tough few days. My mum has depression and we're going through a bit of a rough few days. I've been seeing her most days to try and keep her spirits up and yesterday it seemed to be working, but I got a call from my dad this morning to say that she'd had a really bad night and could I possibly come and see her. It's strange because it seems to have been triggered by a bout of labrynthitis. I myself have had this and it can be very distressing, but for it to have set the depression off is very strange. We're really hoping that she will pick up in the next few days.

That's enough of the waffling, back to the card. As I said, I wasn't feeling very inspired and I always find children's cards difficult to make. I embossed some pearlescent paper with the Happy Birthday embossing folder by Cuttlebug and attached this to some bazzill card before attaching some organza ribbon. The image is courtesy of Charlie Bear and Friends decoupage. Very simple really, not overly happy with it.

I'd better go as it's my sisters birthday on Wednesday and, yes, you've guessed it, I've not made her card either.

Thanks for listening to all my ramblings.
