Elzybells Challenge meets Cute Card Thursday

Thursday, 30 April 2009
I know, I've been MIA again! I've got lots of birthday's in the next few days so have been busy making cards. I've had 7 to make for birthday's covering 1st May - 5th May!! I've not finished them all, but the images are coloured ready for me to decided what I'm going to do with them.

The card below is for a guy who works in my team. As we work for Natural England and deal with the environment, I thought the "Little Birdie" set from Elzybells was the perfect choice. I also thought that I would take part in this fortnights Elzybells Challenge which is a fabulous sketch by Rachel
Supplies
Stamps: Little Birdies set - Elzybells
Ink: Memento Ink, copics
CS: Core'dinations
Tools: nesties
Embellishments: papermania gem stones, silver border peel-offs

The gems on the sentiment are there to hide a couple of small marks that appeared when I separately stamped the two segments of the sentiment, but I don't think they look too bad! Inside the card has been stamped with "...it's your birthday, Happy Birthday to Ewe".

I'm hoping that this will also be considered for this weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge which is to use something shiny. Fingers crossed my gems and border peel-offs fit the bill!

I promise I have more cards to post over the next few days. I thought I would space them out, rather than post them all on one day. Plus it would give you all a reason to keep popping back to see what I've been up to!

Hope you are having a good evening. Thank you for stopping by and any comments you may leave, they are greatly appreciated.

Just Magnolia #2- Pink & Green

Saturday, 25 April 2009
I know, I've been absent again!! I've had a really busy week back at work which has limited the amount of time I've had crafting. I was also having problems with my ink pad bleeding with my copics so was unable to colour any images until the lovely Stacey sent me her Memento Dew Drop ink pad for me to try out. Thank you hun!!

That was the main reason I was unable to take part in the first Just Magnolia challenge last week. However, I successfully managed to colour one of my Tilda's last night and (with a struggle) made a card this morning to fit this weeks theme of Pink and Green

My mojo appears to have deserted me a bit so I'm afraid it's a fairly simple card. The one aspect I was pleased with was the colouring. It felt like everything was working well. I've added a close up of Tilda. I hope you can see the shading!

Supplies

Stamp - Magnolia,Cardstock - Co'oredinations, Ink & Colour - Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics and Rangers Inkessential highlighter, Tools - Nestabilities and D'vine Swirls embossing folder, MS Lace Doily punch

I didn't add a sentiment as I wasn't sure whether this would be used as a birthday card, but a friend of mine has now asked to have this for her niece's birthday.

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. I hope to catch up on every one's blogs this weekend. Thank you for stopping by and any comments you may leave as they are greatly appreciated.

SC224 and Cute Card Thursday

Friday, 17 April 2009
I can't believe it's the last day of my time off work! This time last week I was thinking I had ages to go and now it's only the weekend before going back to the madness of work!

I've been looking on Splitcoaststampers again today and liked the look of this weeks sketch challenge - SC224. As it's my mum's birthday on Sunday, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to test it, and my new nesties, out.

Products used:
Stamp - Lazy Days - Penny Black, coloured with Copics
Embossing Folder - Love Language
Nestabilities - Label 1
Sentiment - Craftwork Cards
Ribbon - Stash
As the cute hedgehog is holding a flower, I think this also qualifies for this weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge which is Floral Fantasy.
I hope everyone is having a good day. Thank you for stopping by and for any comments you may leave, they are greatly appreciated.

TLC187 - Mark Your Spot

Thursday, 16 April 2009
I've been having a look at some of the technique challenges on Splitcoaststampers and thought I'd start off doing something fairly easy........a bookmark!!

There was a reason I chose this challenge though. Jon's just started reading a book and said that he needed a bookmark, so just grabbed some scrap paper to put in and mark his page. After thinking for a while, I managed to knock this up in 30 mins (it does help having the image already coloured to start with).

I don't think it's too girly or cutesy for a guy and Jon seemed to like it, which is the main thing.

If you fancy having a go yourself, you can find the instructions here. I might have a go at making some more of these and possibly try selling them.

Hope you're all having a good evening, thank you for stopping by and any comments you may leave, they are greatly appreciated.

Mojo Monday #82 meets Papertake Weekly Challenge

Tuesday, 14 April 2009
I could get used to these lie-ins! Jon and I have got this week off and it's been nice not having to get up at 5:50am, although the cat doesn't realise that!

I had some good news yesterday. Lorna, one of my best friends, told me that her twin sister had given birth to a baby boy, so the perfect excuse to make a card. It also gave me the chance to use the latest sketch over at Mojo Monday.

I've used my new SU stash that I got courtesy of the lovely and very talented Julie Japes. I've used Bashful Blue cs to make the card base and have then mounted some Bashful Blue dp onto white CS (both punched with my MS lace doily punch), added some ribbon and adhered to the base. The image is from Forever Friends and has been coloured with copics before being cut with nestabilities and mounted to more Bashful Blue cs. I have cut another square from white card and attached to the base. The FF image has been mounted using 3d foam pads.

I don't normally show the inside of my cards as they're normally very plain, but I thought this looked cute so decided to take a photo for you. I've stamped the sweet lil' baby FF bear and coloured with copics again. The sentiment is from Elzybells.

This card also qualifies for this weeks Papertake Weekly Challenge which is to use pastel colours.

Hope you have all had a good day. We're sat watching a very nervy Chelsea v Liverpool Champions League match. C'mon Chelsea!!

Thank you for stopping by and for any comments you may leave, they are greatly appreciated.

Happy Easter! - Friday Sketchers #47

Sunday, 12 April 2009
Happy Easter everyone! Hope you get lots of yummy chocolate eggs to enjoy as it's the one day of the year we needn't feel guilty about eating it!

As I said in my previous post, I must try and start participating in a few more challenges so I thought "why not check out the Friday Sketchers challenge this week?" Jacqueline has come up with a fabulous sketch for us to follow and I couldn't wait to try it out.

I used the cute Hunny Bunnies from CC Designs that I got from Dies to Die For. I've coloured with copics before cutting out with oval nesties and mounting onto a scalloped oval. The base is made up of using a piece of last years DCWV Spring Stack pack and adhered to some pale blue bazzill basics card which I have also used for the strip across the top. I've cut the swirl from a Sizzix die (scribble swirl I think). The sentiment is from Elyzbells. I've finished off by adding some gemstones.

It's a bit different for me as I'm not used to using dp, but wanted to give it a go. I've tried to coordinate the colours on the paper with those that I've used to colour my bunny. Any tips on how I can improve would be greatly appreciated!

Have a great day everyone and thank you for stopping by.

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge - #1 New Beginnings

Saturday, 11 April 2009
There's a new challenge blog started especially for stamping - Stamptacular Sunday Challenge. Being a new blog, what better start than New Beginnings. You can make a card for any form of new beginning as long as it includes some form of stamping!

I have to admit to being pretty predictable going for a new baby card and, when I think of new baby's, out comes by PB Baby Hammock stamp! It's just such an adorable stamp and perfect for any new baby. The image has been stamped and coloured with copics before being cut with nestabilities and mounted on a light pink scalloped circle. The base is made up of white cs that has been partially embossed using the swiss dots CB folder before being mounted onto light pink cs. Baby Girl has been cut using a Sizzix die from the same light pink cs. To finish I've added a small heart gemstone to the centre of the pink heart and another above the "i" of Girl.

I've finally been able to use my new personalised stamp which arrived at the beginning of the week and I couldn't resist adding a piccie of it!! I've got to say a HUGE thank you to Stacey for pointing me in the right direction! It's so cute!! Considering it came from Malaysia, it was here within a week of me confirming the design, so fantastic service!

Anyway, I hope everyone is well. Thank you for stopping by and any comments you may leave, they are greatly appreciated.

Elzbells Easter Treats

Apologies again for the lack of action. I have been creative in my absence, honest!

I wanted to make some Easter baskets for a very good friends two beautiful granddaughters. I had seen they style I wanted to copy on Sue Nelson's site, Heart Prints. If you have not visited Sue's site before she is just amazing and very inspirational in her use of the cuttlebug!

Anyway, the Easter Basket is in Sue's gallery. I've changed the size, using 9" square Core'dinations CS and scored at 3" and 6". The remaining instructions are shown on Sue's site. I've used the cute Easter Chick stamp from Elzybells and coloured with Copics before cutting with circle nestabilities and mounted onto a darker purple scalloped circle. The handle has been punched both sides with my MS doliy lace punch and has been finished with a little bow. The basket was filled with some shredded tissue paper before the contents (as shown) were added.

My friend, Lyn, was overjoyed with them and very touched by the thought.

The card below has been CASE'd from a card that Paula Williamson created for an Elzybells Challenge. I loved it so much that I had to try and recreate it myself! As Paula did, I used the cute Easter Egg Fun stamp which I coloured with copics.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Easter and is enjoying the break. Jon and I have all of next week off, so I hope to be able to make a few more cards as my New Years Resolution of making cards every week (including Xmas cards) is going out the window!

Thank you for stopping by and for any comments you may leave, they are greatly appreciated.

More Easter Treat Bags

Sunday, 5 April 2009
Sorry it's been a week since my last post, I don't know where the time goes! Thank you for the comments on the treat bag in my last post. Since then I've made 10 more for my colleagues at work. I had a little production line going!

They've all been made using Papermania 3in card strips. These are a perfect fit for the Bigz Die. The images are all from the Elzybells Easter Cube Trio and have all been coloured using Copics.

I apologise for the first poor photograph. I didn't realise it was that bad until I went to crop it.

The second photo shows a close up of one bags and the yummy goodies that are inside! They all have some Cadbury's Mini Eggs. I hope my colleagues like them!

Hope you have all had a good weekend and thank you for stopping by and any comments you may leave, they are greatly appreciated.
